Nothing you really want, but there is much cash to burn. Maybe you should hightail it out of here before you are gunned down in some kind of government takeover! But then a salesman, speaking English, catches your ear... "Ah hah, sir, have you been travelling this far for mystery perhaps?" he beckons. The salesman taps a worn, sandy book. "No one has ever been able to explain what lies inside, because the final entry... well, you shall see! Four American dollars!" What the hell? You give him four dollars, and you receive the journal. The first cover introduces the man, Hamrin Esarhaddon. It is very brief, and paging through it, the final two entries catch your eye: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [4/3/00] Communications are still down. I sent some scouts beyond their normal patrols, only two came back. The two said the others just wandered off. Maybe killed, maybe rebels. Anyway, they also reported no real activity, but the Kusera village seemed as if they were readying for war. I stepped up defense on that side, naturally, just in case. Malammed won't fall. [4/8/00] Four days on the run through Arabia. We had to abandon Malammed because they took it over. I don't know who they are, but they obviously despise my business there. Plenty of bullets were lodged in my feet, promtly removed, but this is how far we got in four days: My hydroelectric venture, Lens Dam, which I never write about. Well, I've owned it for about two years now, and it is a great place to fall back on after meandering through desert heat for four days! I thought it may be faster to scale the east wall, which is pretty close to one of my water sources, if I remember the plans right. So many of my employees to greet me here! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hmm, it is now fifteen days later, you think. "Where was this found?" The merchant responded, "At the base of a plateau. Yeah, I think there was some kind of rig at the top of it." What ever happened to Hamrin Esarhaddon? * Other Notes * Blue team plays the lone proprietor, Hamrin Esarhaddon. It's too late to go around the plateau, so you'll have to cross over the plant and drop into the detonation bunker, in order to detonate the assassins still inside the plant. Hope you remember the structure plans. 4 team points per dam detonation. Red team, you're being payed to protect Hamrin, alright? You can scout areas, heal, or demolish someone, all for him. The truck can open the gate, which is near the detonation bunker, so get the truck in place for Hamrin to ride smoothly through that gate! 4 team points per dam detonation, controlled by Hamrin. Yellow team, you've already got Malammed Oil Processing, now only one thing stands in your way: The owner. Have him, and you have all the things he owns. You've got shotguns and sniper rifles to do the job with. Don't allow them to open up the gate to the outside, by keeping the truck away from the gate. Should he get through, make sure he doesn't touch the destruction button inside that bunker! 2 team points per assassination. ======================================================= * PERMISSIONS * The Fifth Day is copyright 2000 John Kurkowski. But there was already a red dot on his face.
